Can You Have A Normal CBC In The Early Stages Of Leukemia?
I had the opposite problem my WBC count was tanking. (AML) my myeloid cells were not maturing and the leukemia cells were taking over my bone marrow. Came on so quickly, within a matter of a couple of months. But in remission now after transplant. I have 100% donor cells from Germany.wishing you all positive outcomes.
My blood is pretty normal. Leukocyte:Lymphocyte ratio is 27% lymphocyte. MY diagnosis came from COVID triggered swollen lymph node biopsy which showed a cytometry strong antigen reaction to key CD indicators. A bone marrow biopsy showed 30% of my bone marrow was involved. If not for COVID, I don't know how long I would have gone un diagnosed although scans show multiple and dispersed swollen nodes with some spleen involvement.
Bloom, A CBC is made up of many tests and some will be normal, some not, in particular, WBC. But I also get both a manual and an auto-differential too where I find a few more tests that are out of range. But your question is one to address to your oncologist.
For me my wbc was 11,000 early on but increased over a year and a half to 83,000. I have a great nurse practitioner who really pushed me to investigate. She saw my wbc was creeping up and scheduled me with hematologist, cardiologist, and other specialists so that I would be diagnosed early.
What white blood cell count was elevated early on and what were the numbers when you started seeing them elevate?
