Hair Loss And Calquence
I've been on Calquence now for 3 years (twice a day, everyday). I have notice when I brush my hair and wash my hair there will be handfuls coming out. When I wash my hair, I have to clean the drain 4 to 5 times to let the water drain. When I brush my hair, hair just falls all over my clothes and I get handfuls out of the brush. Is anyone else having this problem taking Calquence ?
Thanks,
Vonda Brown
I was on Ibrutinib for several years and it worked until it stopped working. No hair loss, but developed a-fib. I was changed to Calquence several months ago (small dose) and now my hair is falling out rapidly. I also have weakness in my legs and shortness of breath really bad. Is it the CLL or is it the fact that I am 85 years old?
Hi, I've been on it for two years now. Some memory loss at times...doctor blames that on age(64 later this month). I'm not convinced, but ok. Loss of energy/ambition has been the real cruddy thing for me. Again the answer I get is age.
Other than those things I see using Calquence for as long as needed. With CLL numbers going in the right direction is the reason to continue.
Back to your question about hair loss, my doctor had told me that Calquence would not be a contributor to that.
No that has not happened to me .I asked my oncologist what I could take so my hair would not fall out he said Calquence is my best bet . I am sorry it is not working for you . I would ask my oncologist to change my drugs , if I were you .
Vonda Brown - I have only "researched" Calquence so far. (Was considering it as a possible medication for my husband, if we end up going with a medication. Currently we're using a holistic approach. But Dr. wants him to go on Imbruvica.)
The most common complaint/side effect I've noticed is seems MANY people get nasty rashes from Calquence.
However I do use a lot of different supplements in life. I was having a hair loss issue for no known reason. I researched and discovered a lack of Biotin (a vitamin) is often the cause of hair loss. I started taking a quality brand of 10 mg per day and in about 1 week my hair loss stopped. But now if I stop taking it for a couple of weeks, it'll start up again. You might want to look into it. It's a vitamin that our body needs but often can't get through foods.
I hope this helps. Best wishes!
I was diagnosed with CLL in 2014, but did not need to treat until 2019. Had chemo treatments but something more was needed to control the disease. Calquence has proven to stabilize my condition with very few side effects after 2 years of use. Am now seeing my doctor every six months rather than monthly. Fatigue can still pop up but not an everyday issue now.
