Why Am I So Tired

A MyLeukemiaTeam Member asked a question 💭
Oxford, PA

Hello all, I have CML and Type 1 diabetes. I’m a 61 year old male I was diagnosed with CML in June of 2017. I find it difficult to do the tasks I did in the past, outside yard work, painting, general handyman stuff. Is it the CML or am I just lazy 🤷🏻‍♂️? I’m constantly tired my RBC is around 11 everything else is in a good range. I take sprycel daily. I’m really frustrated and just looking for some opinions or suggestions. Thanks for reading I appreciate it.

Hello to the 61 yr old who has cml. I was diagnosed at 58. I was so tired too. Went into remission 4 yrs ago. Well let me say the deepest remission possible as my oncologist says. Even though I've been there I still can't seem to be able to do the things I use to. I get tired quicker. I wash my dishes and rest, load or unload washer and dryer I rest. I'm not the same person anymore. I used to be like the energizer bunny. Not anymore. Don't beat yourself up it is what it is your not alone. Keep on keeping on. It's OK

Also have your vitamin b12 & D levels checked. Mine were very low after taking Sprycell and that can contribute to your tiredness too.

The tiredness is part of the journey. I’m still experiencing it at times and I just celebrated 8yrs since stem cell transplant. Take it a day at a time, and rest when you need to. 🙂

Thanks Robin, I appreciate your response. I guess I’m just struggling with the fact my mind seeing things get done easily but the reality prohibits that. You’re right just do what I can and accept it.

I found after taking Sprycell I had lots of joint and muscle pain. Chemo seems to accelerate arthritis ugh 😩 and just to note after 8 yes of Sprycell I had stomach issues and could no longer take it as it was causing the pain. Also got LPR larengophagal reflux which is horrible. I’m only 55 but looking at my medical records you would think I was 100. Lol 😝 I have lived a full medical life that is what they will say at my funeral 🤩
Hope this helps. Just rest when your body says and you will like yourself better.
