How Do I Find Patients Over 60 Who Have Survived Bone Marrow Transplants?
I am 73, in good physical shape with a diagnosis of MDS that is worsening. To avoid advancement to AML. I need to consider a transplant. Question: continue with palliative care or risk transplant for a cure?
You’ve been through so much! You are a fighter Will be praying 🙏 all will go well with your stem cell transplant. Great your blast is at 0, Keep the faith and stay strong, God has a plan for you!
I’m doing pretty well after Bone marrow transplant. I’m 8 years out.
Take care! Keep as active as is possible for you❤️
My husband had an Autolgous Transplant 29 years ago. He is 77 years old now.
I have survived AML through chemotherapy and a donor stem cell transplant at age 63. I’m now 66 and 3 years cancer free. It was the curative remedy for my AML. It saved my life. I’m forever grateful to my team at City of Hope in Duarte Ca. The preparation before the transplant is rough because of the chemo you receive but it’s totally worth it! The stem cell transplant is an infusion of the cells but no pain, of course you must be careful after to avoid infection.
Hello Mb, this decision is totally one you need to make and in saying that, if you are in good physical shape then it's worth considering, because to be put in palliative care would not be very pleasant, I can't tell you what to do, but suggest you consider doing it.
Best of luck.
