Yes, About Side Effects Of Imatinib

I am doing fairly well, I think, in managing most of my side effects from imatinib. Less GI symptoms, leg cramps and bone pain, less fatigue and rashes. But the excessive over and under my eyes just doesn't get much better. My eye drs can't help, facial massage therapy doesn't help.....can't really rest sleeping upright all the time but it does help some and my cold gel eye packs help. Does anyone have any other methods that help you?

Brenda, I am so sorry. Wish I knew of something to help. I know that a MRI w/contrast
can be done and a ulrasound to see if you have any blockages in draining. Do you have sinus issues or any infections lately?
I will certainly put you on the top of my prayer list. Many hugs!

Hi Brenda,
So sorry to hear of your eye problems. Be proud of yourself for all the things you are trying to get this under control. My eyes are sore and vision gets blurred at times and the whites of my eyes have broken blood vessels. Dr said don’t worry about, not dangerous. Didn’t care much for that response. Prayers for recovery 🙏

Yes, Sharon. I'm managing the other side effects ok. I've done everything I know to reduce the puffiness of upper eyelids and fluid sacs underneath my eyes. Did 3 sessions with PT trained in lymphdema drainage. I have worn an eyemask for years to sleeo in because I like total darkness when I go to sleep. She has had me add soft fabric to cause more pressure under my eyes under my mask. No help. She taped where the lymph system drains in the face. It really isn't lymph but interstitial fluid (the difference in edema and lymphedema). So if I'm going out in the morning, after my shower I will do facial massage starting below the clavicles and upward (have a routine) eears and eyes. Then apply my cold gel eyemask for 5 min. Then again before going out. No edema in lower legs. Eyelids feel heavy and use tears for dry eyes, but so far has not interferred with vision. I will stop imatinib if it impacts my vision.
sleeping upright helps and I sleep on two pillows, tried a wedge but GERD wedges too high. I am a side sleeper and don't get my rest on my back. So I'm willing to try anything.
