Has Anybody Had Adverse Effects From Bosutinib/Bosulif That Forced Them To Stop?
I was working up to 400mg/day of Bosutinib in 100mg increment but had to stop at 300mg due to crippling lower back and stomach pains. Apparently, the pain was caused by fluid build up in the back of my pelvis, of all places. I will try again at 200mg when the pain clears up, maybe that will be sufficient to hold my CML in check.
Joseph: your answer is quite useful. I got the bosutinib dose halved to 200mg/day last August, Fortunately for me, it seems to work well, as my BCR/ABL level has descended to 0.0074%. At that dosage, the side effects are bothersome (many tilet trips per day) but not intolerable. We'll see how it works going forward. Thanks for your tip about Scemblix/Ascinimib, which I'll look up shortly. All the best, Mario B.
I stared on Dasatinib and after 3.5 years I leveled of at .11% BCR/ABL. They wanted to put me on Ponatinib but insurance would not cover it until you fail 2 TKS. Went on Bosulif, starting at 100mg and going up to 500mg but the side effects were brutal. Bad Gastrointestinal issues as well as high liver readings on y blood tests. Actually had drug induced Hepatitis and had to go off after three month even though it had me down to .05% BCR/ABL, tried lower dose at 300MG but still could not tolerate. My oncologist then put me on a newer Med call Scemblix/Ascinimib and it has been a god send. Back down to .05% and having another test in April. Side effects are minimal besides fatigue and some joint pain but even less than Sprycel/ Dasatininb. Maybe check with your oncologist, Bosulif was brutal
Greetings Vivibek. My leg cramps started on day 6 of 400mg Gleevec. I seem to remember that another forum member toughed out the leg pain for years with the help of pain meds, but I do not recall her name. As to why doctors start meds at max dose: not all do so, another forum member got started on Bosulif at 100mg, ramping up gradually. I speculate that my doctor (and yours) started at the max dose, perhaps aiming to achieve remission as soon as possible. All the best, MB.
Actually just looked at my bottle it’s 500 mg my bcr as at .05 I am hoping it will get me into deep remission but I wonder what it will do with my wbc and other values
Oh wow I am starting it at 400 mg I wonder why he started it that high .for me. And after how long taking it did you have the leg cramps . Just started it last night . Hope you feel good and get relief :)
