I do understand and respect your adherence to your religious faith regarding blood transfusions. Unfortunately for you blood transfusions are the best and sometimes only way to get the blood count up. Hopefully someday artificial blood will be perfected, something that might be compatible with your church doctrines. Meanwhile I hope that you are doing ok. Stay hydrated. I'm thinking of you.❤️

I remember when the inpatient hospital rule was to transfuse if the patient's hgb got down to 8. Now different treatments that help build up the count can avoid having to transfuse as the first line of treatment. Wow! A hgb count of 1.4 is incredibly low! I am amazed that a transfusion wasn't given well before then. That sounds like playing Russian Roulette to me. I have never heard of the count going that low without doing something. I was an RN working on a post op floor for a few years. I hope Rebecca's husband is doing ok now. He was one lucky guy.

I had to have a blood transfusion about 2 weeks ago.My hemoglobin was at 7.1 ,and they took me off Venclexta for awhile.My hemoglobin recovered to 8 this week,and I have felt much better.My platelets are still low at 86.I know that I really feel tired when my numbers are low.

my hemoglobin wass 6.8 and they did an iron test. I did not need iron.
They kept a watch on it and it is now 8.5.
I take a shot every 3 weeks. The shot is called aranasep
It has been as high as 10.5 but is steady not in the 8
When it was very low I did get a blood transfusion but the shot is to help not to have blood transfusions
Ask your doctor about this shot.

My husband got to 1.4 and they finally gave him trauma blood and had to put him on a bipap for about 4 hours cause he crashed
