I live in Alberta ,Canada so my doctors visits, chemo, counselling ,cancer exercise program are all covered by either provincial or retirement or federal govt health plan. When I travelled to Arizona I paid for chemo "out of pocket" because it was a pre existing health condition.I feel sad for you for having to worry about $$$ when there is so much else is in you life right now .

No way was I prepared. Medicare, Medicaid kicked in. There's also a charitable cancer group in my area that gives out grants, etc. When I was first diagnosed I was up front with my doctor about not having any insurance and being broke. All he said was "I know who to call." That's been years ago and the last time I checked my oncology bill it was around $600. Less than that now, what with monthly payments. 😁

It's so not right the price they charge for our medicine. It's down right wrong.

So far. I've been lucky. I live only on Social Security and the drug is shipped to me for free.

In years before, there were donated amounts to various organizations, who helped me out...

I was "fortunate" to have good insurance with BC/BS just $4k deductible the first of every year. Medicare kicked and took some of sting out. At the time I was doing five days of decitabine each month so didn't have to worry about any script for meds. The SCT at the Mayo cost $180K of which insurance was going to only cover $150K. I almost laughed when the accountant told me. But then he said the Mayo would take what the insurance would pay. So good, one less thing to stress about. Still none of the treatment and associated costs was cheap. Such is the state of medical care in the US. Be Strong and Persevere.
