All of the targeted drugs are very good, and as long as you're not having any intolerable side effects, you should keep taking the one you're taking according to your physician's prescription. All of these drugs work similarly but because of their chemical configurations, some of them may cause an uncomfortable side effect or two in your specific body. There would be no reason to change your prescription to a different TKI drug unless the one you're taking doesn't work for you. It takes a long time for your body to respond appropriately to these drugs--it's an on-going process. Keep on keeping on, Kenny. Love, Diane🥰

I am taking Imatanib abd having very good results. That was the drug of choice by my oncologist. Side effects are tolerable.

Sprycel seems to be working with really no side effects but I haven't been on it long enough to tell it just seems like everyone speaks about Imatanib as the go to medication

It's great that you're reaching out for more information. Let's clarify the effectiveness of different treatments for Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML), particularly in the chronic phase.

1. **Imatinib (Gleevec)**: This is often the first line of treatment for people with chronic phase CML. The five-year survival rate for those taking imatinib is about 90%. It's known for being very effective in eliminating leukemia cells and reducing symptoms.

2. **Dasatinib (Sprycel)**: The medication you mentioned, Sprycel, is also highly effective for treating CML. It's one of the newer drugs approved after imatinib and works similarly by targeting the BCR-ABL protein that causes CML.

3. **Nilotinib (Tasigna)**: Another effective treatment for CML, similar to dasatinib and imatinib, focusing on the same target but with different molecular structures and side effect profiles.

Each of these medications can be very effective in managing CML, especially in the chronic phase. The choice between them often depends on individual factors like your specific health condition, how you respond to the treatment, and potential side effects. It's important to have a detailed discussion with your healthcare provider about the best treatment plan for your specific situation. They can provide guidance based on your prognostic factors and any other health considerations.
