My mom, myself, and my youngest daughter battled cold sores and canker sores on a frequent basis. They say it can be a genetic thing. But when my CLL was at its worst and I was doing my treatment(s), I had cold sores and canker sores on a more regular basis, somerime two at a time. When my numbers became better and I neared remission, the sores diminished. Being in remission since June 2024, I can't think of the last time I had either one. Some say it's a weakened immune system to fight them off, some say they can be triggered by nerves.

The Herpecine L with Lidocaine helps greatly... as soon as you feel or even suspect one..... use it

Good morning everyone! Right now i am fighting a head cold, with a cough, thick mucus from my nasal passages and have to go to immediate care for anti biotics. I had a cold sore on my lower lip but it appears to be gone now. Thankfully. But i am experiencing mouth sores which is very annoying. It seems like its a never ending battle between Leukemia low immune system, iron overload issues. I guess in prospective as the saying goes, you win some and some you don't.......On the other hand have a blessed day and if your body says rest, do it.........

I have a history of cold sores- generally when I'm sick with a cold or under stress. Since my CLL diagnosis, I've had way more cold sores without anything else. My hematologist gave me acyclovir and I've had fewer, but still have them. Not sure if it's connected, but it sure seems to be.

Although,CLL makes a person more prone to infections, one can get a cold sore with or without CLL.
