For people with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), a well-balanced diet can help manage symptoms and improve overall well-being. Here are some dietary recommendations:

Foods to Eat:

- Natural fibers help feed "good bacteria" in the gut, essential for the immune system.

2. Lean Proteins:
- Essential for maintaining muscle mass and immune function.
- Options include plant-based proteins (beans, legumes, nuts, tofu), seafood, poultry, and eggs.

3. Whole-Grain Carbohydrates:
- Promote heart health and improve blood sugar control.
- Rich in fiber, vitamins E and B, and antioxidants.
- Examples: 100% whole-wheat bread, buckwheat, brown rice, oatmeal, quinoa.

4. Dairy Alternatives:
- Choose your favorite nondairy milk product.

Foods to Avoid:
1. High-Fat or Processed Red Meats:
- Includes pepperoni, bacon, and sausages due to their saturated fats.

2. Raw or Undercooked Foods:
- Avoid raw meat, runny eggs, raw seafood, unpasteurized dairy, and certain soft cheeses to reduce the risk of foodborne illness.

Food Safety Tips:
- Cook foods to proper temperatures.
- Wash fresh fruits and vegetables before preparing them.
- Consult your healthcare team about what’s safe to eat, especially if undergoing treatment.

These dietary choices can help manage CLL symptoms and support overall health.

I am type 2 diabetic so I have switched to low carbohydrates and protein. I had ate very healthy my whole life so giving up sugar & salt was no problem. I weigh about 15 pounds more than when I was 20 so I am doing good. My wife has been very good with nutrition. I like having meals with riced cauliflower or cauliflower flour pizza? I manage to balance my healthy eating with exercising and walking. I plan to be busy until I cann't be active.
