I hope you understand that this illness is something which can be controlled depending on your health and treatment? I just informed my wife and she went over board with excessive worrying? I learned that there are people who had been ill for 10, 20 or more years who are team members. I also learned that this illness can be controlled and we can have a normal life. If you have family members who are medical people they may be able to assist you with their knowledge. I have been quiet about my illness so that it does not stress family members. I have also researched CLL and learned from team members. I hope you can find the answers from others to help you find a good answer to your concern?

Deciding when, where, and to whom to reveal your leukemia diagnosis can be overwhelming. Here are some tips to help you incorporate your friends and family members into your cancer journey:

- Appoint a Spokesperson: Designate a friend or family member as your health-status point of contact to allow yourself to focus on treatment. This can help if you prefer not to receive many questions about your health or treatment.
- Communicate in Writing: Websites like CaringBridge are great for keeping your friends and family updated on your cancer journey through journal posts. Your spokesperson can also use such websites or email to communicate on your behalf.
- Think of Ways People Can Help: When loved ones offer to help, plan an answer ahead of time. Practical tasks you can request help with include:
- Grocery shopping
- Preparing or ordering meals
- Getting a ride to appointments
- Transporting children to school or activities
- Cleaning or paying for a cleaner
- Doing laundry or paying for a laundry service
- Advocating for you in the healthcare setting

Being honest with your loved ones can give them the chance to be supportive while providing you a safe place to express your feelings of vulnerability and complex emotions.
