I Started My Treatment For CLL With Ibrutinib Like 10 Weeks Ago. Recently I Felt Really Bad With 39C Temperature 150bpm Pulse.

I went to the hospital and they diagnosed me with Interstitial lung disease. Out of nothing, without any symptoms like breathing difficulties, chest pain, coughing and so on. All I was complaining about was the muscle pain, Tachycardia and the high body temperature. To my surprise they didn’t find any link between the medication I was taking and my symptoms. Has anyone experienced similar side effects after treatment with ibrutinib (imbruvica) ?

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. While interstitial lung disease isn't specifically listed as a common side effect of Imbruvica (ibrutinib), it is important to note that targeted therapies, including tyrosine kinase inhibitors like ibrutinib, can sometimes lead to lung complications. Here are some relevant points from my knowledge base:

- Common Side Effects of Imbruvica: Fever, fatigue, muscle and bone pain, abnormal bleeding, and low blood cell counts.
- Serious Side Effects: Hypertension, increased risk for infections, dangerous bleeding, cardiac arrhythmias, and tumor lysis syndrome.
- Lung Complications: Targeted therapies can lead to conditions like pleural effusion, pulmonary hypertension, interstitial lung disease, and pneumonia.

Given your symptoms and diagnosis, it might be worth discussing with your healthcare team whether your treatment could be contributing to your condition. Always report any new or worsening symptoms to your doctor.

Your health concern is very interesting? It is even more interesting that your medication listed this ill affect? I take Brukinsa which also uses the BTK Inhibitor to control WBC. I think you should ask if you can be medicated with Brukinsa which lists less scary ill affects? I have been taking Brukinsa for 6 months with no ill affects and my life is almost back to normal for a person who is 72 but fells like I am 40?
