In my humble opinion, your husband would be better off eating healthy, and staying away from drugs like cocaine. Leukemia affects the body's ability to fight off infections and I don't believe cocaine will be beneficial to him. Did either of you specifically ask the doctor if cocaine use is okay? Did either of you ask the hematologist/oncologist? I would suggest checking in with the doctor and see what he says. πŸ™‚ Good luck!

Must admit, we have been through quite a struggle in our relationship, he is extremely depressed, on lots of sleeping pills, anxiety meds etc, he has his Hematologist on one side, Gp on other side and psychiatrist as well, all 3 will give him medication and I realized how strong some is, he can sleep through a hurricane. But when I say something that I might think it is too strong for him or he takes too much, he will get extremely angry and say I am not a doctor.
I have tried to tell him to eat and live healthy, but now it seems like the drugs, alcohol and meds numb him. He really started having lots of pain in his spleen lately that is slightly enlarged. But no, he will never ever tell a doctor about the cocaine. I have kind of given up trying to help him, I feel that I cant have sympathy for him if he lives like this. It makes me think how I had to stop smoking when I found out I was pregnant, there was no question about it, and now sometimes I even think that he doesnt care about his family, because then he would have tried to live healthy to live longer with us! But No!

During my first year with my doctor I was not getting any information nor help? I think the unknown is the biggest concern which can lead to trouble and fear? I did feel much better the better when my questions were answered. I think when a person chooses a artificial crutch to help manage their mental issues they may be headed towards bigger problems? I am glad I was retired and my children were well on their way to their own lives. I find coming here to see how team members are doing and if I can answer a question good medication for my spirit, I hope you can get through to your husbands spirit to ask him what his problem is and how it can be resolved? Rest is good for the body but unanswered questions can lead to mental concerns? We are going into autumn and the changing seasons could be something which affects a person's mental health? This summer has been very hot for me and now I plan to enjoy the cool autumn which will be like a second spring to me.

I like the last answer. Many chemicals have a BAD affect on the body. I think the exposure to the wrong chemicals could possibly affect a persons becoming infected with leukemia. When a person has Leukemia they should focus on trying to be more healthy by both eating healthy and exercising to maintain their health. People have had this medical issue for years without concerns. There are many medical treatments (I take Brukinsa & my WBC count is 8000, I have no ill affects from the medication.) The resource section can provide information concerning treatments and other information? I am glad your are asking the team for assistance because people here can provide answers to help with your choice to a better life.
