Thank You for the news Stephen. My platelets, Neutrophils, and hemoglobin are already low. Over the last few months I have had transfusions for both the platelets and hemoglobin. My neutrophils are at .13 now. I'm not sure I can move forward with the decitabine treatment with numbers that low. Did you get information as to how to increase those three numbers? Thank You.

Artieg46, I do not have that type of leukemia but in answer to your questions what are the side effects of decitabine, I looked it up on the computer but it doesn't mean you will get every side effect. Everyone reacts differently.

Side effects of decitabine: Redness/pain/bruising at the injection site, nausea, constipation, diarrhea, vomiting, upset stomach, trouble sleeping, hair loss, or muscle/joint pain may occur. Nausea and vomiting can be severe. In some cases, your doctor may prescribe medication to prevent or relieve nausea and vomiting.

Again, everyone reacts differently and these side effects do not mean you will get them. In conclusion, decitabine is an effective and well-tolerated therapeutic alternative with acceptable side effects in elderly AML patients. Always keep your doctor informed of side effects if any. It didn't mention fatigue but I would think you might feel fatigued too. Wishing you a miraculous recover and praying you go into remission. Sincerly Dianne2442 🙏

I was diagnosed with CMML Leukemia 6 years ago and received a Bone Marrow Transplant 5 1/2 years ago. I am 66 years old, overweight but relatively active. CMML is some areas is considered MDS.

I just finished my first round of 5
So far no side affects. Although I was told low neutrophils, platelets and hemoglobin are the most common. They gave notes to follow for them.

Guess the correct word would be effect. What side effects from taking a certain medication.
