T-PLL

A MyLeukemiaTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi
My husband Henry (65 years old) has been diagnosed with T-PLL in August 2024. The doctors put him on 'wait and watch' until the disease manifests more. His general condition is ok, with every day fever and especially pain in his legs which makes it difficult for him to walk. The doctor said it is not a typical symptom of the disease. I am researching about T-PLL and it is challenging to find enough information on such a rare leukemia. I wonder if there are members in the community who might… read more

I have CLL with medication with no ill affects. I think your medical people should “share & care” versus do nothing. The pain should be taken care of to reduce stress. Medical people who do nothing are not doing their job. I think stress can activate bad health problems so pain should be treated versus saying this is not a medical problem?

Hi WebbyTr, There are a few of us on this site with T-PLL since it’s such a rare leukemia and not researched as well as other leukemias. Yes, doctors will wait until our illness becomes active before providing treatment because they have found that early treatment does not help this rare leukemia. To find others with T-PLL, on this site, you can search through the tab “Meet Others” and enter the disease T-PLL and see who is active on the site. I have T-PLL, diagnosed in October of 2003. I am considered inactive at this time. Sending you peace and hope. I will also see if Sharon603 (active on site) can welcome you to the T-PLL Warrior Team.

I'm sorry to hear about Henry's diagnosis and the challenges you're facing. T-PLL is indeed a rare and aggressive leukemia, and it can be difficult to find comprehensive information. While leg pain isn't typically associated with T-PLL, symptoms like fever, night sweats, and fatigue are more common. The "watch and wait" Show Full Answer

The "watch and wait" approach is often used for inactive disease, as immediate treatment may not provide benefits until the disease progresses.

Connecting with others who have T-PLL or similar experiences can be incredibly helpful. MyLeukemiaTeam is a supportive community where members share their stories, advice, and insights about living with leukemia, including T-PLL. You can visit their platform at url: https://www.myleukemiateam.com/resources/t-cell... to find more information and engage with others who may have valuable experiences to share. Wishing you and Henry strength and support during this time.

Thank you very much BIGEYES. Every info is so important for new patients, I greatly appreciate it. For us the news of 'waiting' was such a shock. We have been thought that 'early diagnosis and immediate treatment is crucial in cancer' but there are so mant different cancer cases. I will check the 'Meet others' tab. So you were diagnosed in 2003, 21 years ago? Did you have a stem cell tranplant? I am also sending you best wishes and prayers.
