CML

A MyLeukemiaTeam Member asked a question 💭

Has anyone taken tasigna? If so what side effects are you having or had and do they ever ease up or disappear. I start this pill next week and I'm scared. I was diagnosed in July 19 with CML and was on sprycel but had so much fluid retention got lots of fluid in my lungs so my doctor took me off of it. I was lucky though in a short time with sprycel my numbers went down to undetected and that was the only side effect. But man what a bad side effect. Feels like your drowning. Any help is… read more

I was on Tasigna when I was first diagnosed. I ended up with a toxic liver so they took me off. I went on Gleevec after that and I think that I had every side effect. I had a few side effects on Tasigna but nothing too serious. Take it one day at a time

Yes was on tasigna for 4 weeks . I couldn't handle it. My heart raced and when my heart wasn't racing I vomited. It's all about the side effects. Read, read, read, . My life line was a retired oncology nurse. I probably spoke to her every day. Presently taking The generic of gleevec called Imatnib. After 1 yr on this went into the deepest remission possible. I took Sprycel first same as you filled up with fluid in hospital for 3 days.

I have been on Tsigna for 4 yeas now. My feet swell and I have leg cramps and hand cramping at times. Other than that my numbers have been great. I have other issues that don’t have anything to do with my CML. We are very luck we have so many choices with our medication. Side effects are felt with any meds we take. I am happy we don’t have to go thru chemo or radiation. I am so truly blessed. Does you doctor keep telling you to live stress free as much as you can?

Yeah the fluid retention on sprycel was awful and caused a lot of heart issues so they took me off sprycel and put me on bousilaf and that was no better on about a week, when I was on Tasigna it was working fine and then quit working and the Gleevec has now caused fluid retention and gas from hell (stinky) it is hard enough dealing with the leukemia but the side effects are even worse and now because of the other issues I am now going to have a stem cell transplant and hope things work for the best.
