This May Seem Like A Stupid Question But Can We Give Blood If You Have CLL?
Someone said you can donate your organs, but we can't give blood. It makes sense we can't give blood, since this is a BLOOD CANCER...but I just want to know for sure that we can't give blood. Maybe they clean the blood or maybe the can use part of one of the blood components. Leukemia, CLL is a cancer of the blood and bone marrow...right?
I have large granular leukemia T-cell. 5 years ago I was told I could not donate any more. We have a friend that had a stem-cell transplant last April. He was his own donor. If he stays away from anyone with contagious stuff, he does well.
Adults with any blood diseases can not donate blood. With leukemias, people are often anemic and have other abnormalities with their blood counts. It is for the safety of the leukemia patient as much as it is for the effectiveness of the blood transfusion to the recipient.
Hi everyone, I have enjoyed the conversation on blood donation and even mosquitos. I have wondered about those mosquitos as I live in Minnesota and they come close to being our state bird. I have wondered how long they survive after taking blood out of me. I envision them glowing in the dark, but never have seen it. We have so many I do not worry over their survival, but I do think about what happens after my donation. Flying pests can transfer illness, I don't worry about giving someone cancer but can something come from it as it has been stated our blood is not good for us let alone anyone else. Just some thoughts that roam through my brain.--jmb
Yes that's what the Doctors said to me also.our blood is not safe even for us let alone other people...we need new blood...
Well, I looked it up. No we cannot donate. 😕
If I Am In Remission, With My Oncologist Saying There Is No Evidence Of CLL By Means Of A Specialized Blood Test. Am I Allowed To Donate ?
