Problem Sleeping

A MyLeukemiaTeam Member asked a question 💭
Panama City Beach, FL

I’m Jeff from Panama City Beach Florida. I’m 66 years old and have CLL. I have been experiencing problems with getting to sleep at night. Anyone else having problems? What did you do to overcome the problem?

Hi Deb:) If you don't have a good feeling about it and want a second opinion then absolutely do what you feel is best for you. Did you happen to ask the current dermatologist that will be doing the mohs about your concern? From what I understand and was explained to me was that if I did not have the cancer removed, it would spread. Mine was on my upper inner thigh...close to lymph nodes in groin area.We have hundreds of lymph nodes throughout our entire body. The medical field tends to just check the primary ones (neck, armpits, groin) and thats it. You can do a search for a lymph node chart if you're interested to see how many there are. We even have them behind our knees which I did not know until I was diagnosed with venous insufficiency in my left leg. Enjoy the rest of your day:) It's above freezing here..wahoo! and its sunny out so I'm going to definitely go for a much needed walk in the woods later on:):)

I had the same problem. The CLL has impacted me in different ways. Like most people with CLL, I have to fight the desire to go back to bed. I am tired all the time. I look at it as a battle to stay alive and I refuse to take any chemo. My belief: if a drug is promoted as a positive but leaves a negative; how good can it be? I am 86 years old but still make it an important part of my daily routine to go to the gym. I take a prescription drug "Furosemide 40 mg" It reduces fluid in the body and helps with the CLL.

Re: MOHS surgery, not the sleep issue. I have CLL and am not under any treatment at this point, but I had MOHS surgery last year for a spot on my chin. Although it felt as though they had removed half of my face, and the incision was initially long, it has healed beautifully and is barely visible. It did not hurt and it healed easily. I hope you will have the same results, and I encourage your speaking with your specialists to ease your mind.

I had knee replacement 4 weeks ago but had been having trouble sleeping for awhile. My doctor prescribed trazodone 50 mg. I was resistant to taking but between knee surgery and CLL I was desperate. Am also taking gabapentin 100 mg for nerve pain related to the surgery. Have been sleeping 7-9 hours nightly! Trazodone took a week to work but so worth it for me. I almost feel “normal.”
