Has Anyone Else Had High Liver Enzymes While Taking The Generic Form Of Gleevec Or Sprycel?

Diagnosed with CML in September of 2023. Identified with a routine blood test at my annual physical.

Both Gleevec (Imatinib) and Sprycel (Dasatinib) can potentially cause liver-related side effects.

Gleevec (Imatinib)
- Common Side Effects: Fatigue, rash, edema (swelling), nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, pain in muscles and bones, muscle cramps
- Serious Side Effects: Heart failure, liver failure, kidney damage, Show Full Answer

Both Gleevec (Imatinib) and Sprycel (Dasatinib) can potentially cause liver-related side effects.

Gleevec (Imatinib)
- Common Side Effects: Fatigue, rash, edema (swelling), nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, pain in muscles and bones, muscle cramps.
- Serious Side Effects: Heart failure, liver failure, kidney damage, severe edema, dangerously low blood cell counts, serious hemorrhage, fetal harm in pregnant women, Stevens-Johnson syndrome.

Sprycel (Dasatinib)
- Common Side Effects: Headache, fatigue, fever, cough, rash, abnormal bleeding, nosebleeds, trouble breathing, changes in heart rhythm, nausea, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, mouth sores, loss of appetite, edema (swelling), peripheral neuropathy, increased risk for infections, altered state of consciousness.
- Serious Side Effects: Severe edema, heart problems, severe skin reactions, fetal harm in pregnant women, increased risk for developing pulmonary arterial hypertension, tumor lysis syndrome.

If you are experiencing high liver enzymes while taking either of these medications, it is important to consult your healthcare provider for further evaluation and management.
