After 1st chemo (24/24/week) at May2024, the blood count result is good with my spouse, she's healthy but the doctor still requires BMT and transferred her to another hospital. I received a lot of msgs from my relationships: why you guys have to do BMT when blood count is clean! I cannot answer this kind of question, and I trust the oncology doctors, that's their professional job. All of illness symptoms after chemo before transplant (BMT) appear again, and they followed daily with medication, and they're happy when their patient step by step reduce illness. That's no choice, I am reading about dysgeusia, and still scare about weaken organs.

Targeted therapy for Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) focuses on specific parts of AML cells, making it different from traditional chemotherapy. Here are some key points:

- Effectiveness: Targeted therapy can be effective if AML cells have certain gene changes or genetic mutations.
- Recent Approvals: In the last two years, seven or eight oral targeted therapy drugs have been approved by the FDA.
- Administration: Most targeted therapies can be taken at home, either as pills or intravenously.
- Examples: Drugs like Rydapt (Midostaurin) for FLT3 gene mutations, Xospata (Gilteritinib), and Venclexta (Venetoclax) are used in specific AML cases.

It's important to discuss with your healthcare team to understand how targeted therapy might work for your specific situation.

I would feel better about this issue if the word "chemo" was dropped? During the 70's chemo was a drug which attacked anything living or a medical poison. I hope your treatment has more to do with selective inhibitor which only attacks the cells causing an issue? My medication only attacks B or T cells and not healthy organs in my body. I hope your medical people can confirm the medication will not weaken your healthy or organs from the "chemo" nor give ill affects. I hope you get the answers your require to decide the correct choice for a better future.
