I Am Sceptical Of Them Saying I'm In Remission After Only First Round Of Chemo. I Was Diagnosed In January Of This Year With Stage 4 CLL .

Diagnosed in January of 2024 with stage 4 CLL I am 60 years old and only done first 6 months of chemo but have had several infections that weren't too severe I'm just concerned that this remission won't stay very long

I like the answer "controlled" when blood samples are normal. A control can change too abnormal but a remission to me means "possible cure?" I sure like answers which do not have a vague possibility or multiple possibilities?

Most of my blood count things are all pretty close to normal but there's still some that's not in the normal range but I'm assuming that's going to be that way

The thing is when I went to see my oncologist they didn't actually say I was in remission at that point because my white blood cells were still down but when I called to talk to them a couple of days ago for another reason I asked her if I was going to be well enough to take care of my son when he had to have something done with his foot surgery they said well we'll just say that you're in remission basically so that's why I'm skeptical

I think you were being told that you are NOT increasing the WBC count or "remission." I take medication and I understand the effect to be "controlled" or NOT increasing WBC count (currently 8000.) I hope your medical people can answer your questions so that you do not having the feeling of not knowing the "unknown?" In the past I wrote down my questions and I did not get 20% answered and then my doctor disappeared ( I have not seen him in a year but the Nurse Practitioner is 100% better at answering questions.) I think our illness can be resolved but the unknown can be an issue with both mental and physical health.
