Hi Bell. I did have a transplant, although I was only 55 years old at the time. My brother was the donor. I have had breathing issues since that time, whether it was from the transplant, all the chemo, the sepsis/pneumonia and/or GVHD. I have only about 50% of my lung capacity since, but have managed well and it hasn't worsened in the last couple years. I am told it will never get better than this, but could get worse. I can still walk long distances, take hills, work out (albeit not as long or rigorous as in the past), etc. I think it is common, from what I am told, with AML, treatment and transplant. Doc says lots of scar tissue now in my lungs. Frankly, if this is the worst, and it is at this time, that I have to deal with after the year from hell in 2020/21, then I am blessed. Good luck and am sure your doc will find ways to keep your breathing capabilities as good as they can be!. Prayers your way.

Hello Bell, it's disappointing your transplant didn't go as expected and now you are having breathing problems, that's definitely a serious concern for you.
I haven't had the transplant and I won't because the 2 blood transfusions didn't go well as I felt awful after them and my twin is over the age to be able to give me a transplant, I think 60 is the cut off point and we're 68.
I only wish I could suggest something for you, but please know that there are many people out there who are supporting you, especially here on this site.

Try to walk. Eat deep green vegetables like broccoli for the oxygen.
