I'm Having A Pet Scan On Monday. It's My First One. I Was Diagnosed With C.L.L. On July 23, 2019. Can Anyone Tell Me What To Expect?
The Pet Scan was different in terms of procedures but not much in terms of discomfort. Will take a tad longer in the tube probably. They may even play some music for you. Best wishes with it.
I agree with what M said, a tad longer with a few more procedures. Similar to a CT scan. Your tech team will take good care of you.
If I remember correctly, you will be injected with a radioactive isotope and then sit in a comfy chair for awhile, keeping as still as you can. This is so the isotope doesn’t go to areas of movement/motion, instead of to cancerous targets (the isotope is mixed with glucose, as then acitive tissues, like cancer, will use the glucose more readily as fuel). You then will go through to scanners, the first scanner is usually Nuclear Medicine, the second scanner is a CAT scanner. Plan on a few hours total from start to finish! I hope this answer helps out, blessings and good luck on your exam!
Thank you so much for replying to me.
I will start on the soon on the same treatment. You sound very similar to me. I will be on the same treatment as you I believe. Did you start by taking alluproinal? How can I expect to feel when I start? I know everyone is different.
