What Problems Pop Up After AML Chemo Treatment?

A MyLeukemiaTeam Member asked a question 💭
Atlanta, GA

I survived AML with cytarabine and others, idarubicin fludaribene and azacitidine. Anyone have these treatments and other health issues lately related to the chemo?

Doubled in a year but still low, cause for concern, will test again in 2 months and see if it stabilized. Dr thinks it may have just been irritated and enlarged from the chemo.

Neurapathy, dry skin hands and feet are the worst, chemo brain(still have issues with it 6 yrs later, skin soreness where I had Petachiae on my lower legs by my ankles, degenerative disc disease... And it all sucks but better then the alternative, I say.

I'm rmd negative after treatments, had a favorable diagnosis, with npm 1, and as long as my biopsies stay clean, no stem cell transplant. If the mutation shows back up, I'll be on for a transplant. I was hit with AML in June of 2020. I have 2 children in their late 30's both typed okay for a transplant so we just wait and pray for a clean biopsy every 6 months. Longer I go, better the odds especially making it to 4-5 years out. I also do not want a transplant but if I need it I will of course.

That got me into remission since December, I want to deny the stem cell transplant but dont know how long I can stay in remission. I am scared to death to have a transplant
