Hello, Jo....: ) I seem to like Gemini I guess...here's what it said:

"This is for informational purposes only. For medical advice or diagnosis, consult a professional.

Yes, it is possible that a chemotherapy drug could affect your memory. Chemotherapy brain, also known as chemo brain or cancer-related cognitive impairment, is a term used to describe changes in thinking and memory that can occur during or after cancer treatment. These changes can include difficulty concentrating, remembering things, or multitasking.

While not all chemotherapy drugs are known to cause chemo brain, some of the drugs that have been linked to it include:

Cisplatin
Cyclophosphamide
Doxorubicin
Methotrexate
Paclitaxel
It is important to note that chemo brain is not a permanent condition. For most people, the effects of chemo brain will improve over time, although for some people, the effects may last longer.

If you are concerned that your chemotherapy drug may be affecting your memory, it is important to talk to your doctor. They can help you understand the potential risks and benefits of your treatment, and they can also recommend ways to manage any side effects you may experience.

Just a thought for everyone whether you have or have not received chemo, etc. Reach out to your regular physician and mention your memory issues/challenges. There are tests for cognitive decline, memory, etc that can determine where you are at, so to speak (score of the test). PCP should then refer you to a neurologist for further testing. I started having memory problems a few years ago at the age of 59 and spoke with my PCP. My issue, however, was due to brain damage injury vs. chemo/med related. Yes, they are 2 different circumstances, however, the brain is still challenged in a similar way. PCP also referred me for therapy which is doing wonders. We all must challenge our brains daily...sudoko, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, deduction puzzles, even basic math like we used to do (multiplying, dividing, etc) Also eating healthy, staying hydrated, positive mindset, adult coloring, hobbies that you have, walking, outdoor activities, social activities, etc. Oh yes, for those who like using their phones for various things, there are a lot of apps out there that are geared toward challenging the brain.

Excellent Keith!!! Only a physician can rule out or diagnosis anything & everything that is happening on ea treatment w/ea patient… Nothing, is a one size fits all… My University Hospital always uses an Oncology-Psychologist to test for normal & abnormal changes… Again, this site is not an ACCREDITED MEDICAL SITE w/CURRENT/UPDATED INFO!!! Great work!
PS I added you to my team… Power is Knowledge & Vice Versa… Blood Diseases in general can affect the brain in many ways, prior to TREATMENT!!!
(Adding, Imbruvica is a BTK/Targeted Treatment. (not actually chemotherapy.) It can cause brain issues… It does have many side affects & symptoms that can be urgent for a patient’s healthcare team to know… As everyone is different, different people will react differently to all drugs for every kind of treatment… There’s also the issue of diet & vitamins & minerals that may not mix w/ea treatment…

Hi Robert - I see that like me, you were exposed to toxic materials. I appreciate your insights and obviously you have an analytical brain. I wish I understood the science better and in a way I feel like I am running out of time to expend my limited time finding out what is going to kill me anyway. I'm glad to have this group for realtime support. What frustrates me continually is knowing that we have a wealthcare system that focuses on limiting information in order to cover their asses and as was recently pointed out so clearly using deny, delay & depose to wear down sick folks in their pursuit of interminable greed with no oversight by our corrupt gov't. Now we have limited docs, with limited time treading water out of duty. And as MyLeukemiaTeam point out, they can't even tell us to expect chemo brain even though it is a reality and docs have the nerve to refute that fact. We are truly wandering through the dark, grasping at tree limbs that could break at any moment. Sorry. The down days are mounting.

During the 70's I discussed many thing about health and treatment with other people. I learned that chemo attacks everything in the body? I had hoped that today chemo only attacked the problem in the body it is suppose to attack. If a person get CHEMO BRAIN then the nervous system is be attacked. I hope people realize the affects the chemicals can have on their body and how long it takes to recover from the chemical?
