Thank you everybody. Bone Marrow Biopsy went well. I felt no pain, but I wasn't really out like when I have my colonoscopy.
Thank you for the well wishes.

I had several BMB. First was to Dx'd that I had leukemia. That involved fentanyl given during extraction of sample. Next day felt like some one kick me hard in rear end. I had several more over the years which used the same process. All in all very tolerable and in a twilight state during procedure. After a SCT I had another BMB at about 100 days right before discharge where I "put under" for about five minutes. Then again about seven months later as a follow up to determine the level of Chimerism that used the same technique. I preferred being "put under".

Hello Mary Lou, today you have your bone marrow Bx.
Some other friends, some of them with multiple experience, have written, that it was no problem. I had a BM Bx last summer. It was not necessary because of my CLL, but I wanted to have it done because of the light chain desease, to exclude, that there is something else beside the CLL. I just had a local anesthesia, so I didn't feel any pain, although a lot of bone marrow material (much more than usual) was taken. Also afterwards I had no pain, and I didn`t need any additional painkillers. Furthermore I had no problems in walking or doing anything.
I don't know whether it is done in the same way by your oncologist: after the puncture a sandbag was placed directly on the puncture site to help close the vessels and reduce the risk of post-procedure bleeding (I have a slight tendency to bleed). So I rested for a while with the small sandbag.
All together the bone marrox Bx was no problem, and I would do it again if it leads to any useful information.
All the best for today <3

I have done it multiple times, but they always put me to sleep before the procedure.

Hi. I've had one biopsy with enough meds for no pain and done the rest with just lidocaine. Even with the extra pain meds there will be some discomfort a day or two after, but the sharper pain during the procedure won't be felt. Where I go they do it very quickly so the lidocaine is enough for me. I also use a dealing with pain meditation from the calm app that help you to disassociate yourself from the pain by being aware of the changes in what you are sensing and focus on that instead of focusing on anxiety about the pain. That has helped as well.
