Good morning. I was diagnosed in June 22 with blood work showing high WBC and Lymphocytes: i.e.; CLL. Watch and Wait for 18 months and started oral chemotherapy Jan 24. So far Calquence has returned WBC and platelets to normal. Bone marrow biopsy has not been mentioned to me. I think biopsy is done depending on several different red flags found in the blood work or when the current treatment plan is no longer working.

I was diagnosed with CLL with a CBC and Flow Cytometry test.
I have early stage CLL with no symptoms and hope it remains this way for a long time.
I have not had a Bone Marrow biopsy

Not all people diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) require a bone marrow biopsy. Here are some key points:

- Routine Blood Work: CLL is often first suspected after reviewing routine blood work
- Blood Tests: Diagnosis can include blood tests like a complete blood count and immunophenotyping tests.

- Bone Marrow Tests: These are not always necessary but can be used to distinguish between CLL and other diseases or to measure treatment effectiveness.

In summary, while bone marrow biopsies can be part of the diagnostic process, they are not always required.

I was admitted to the hospital with pulmonary embolism and DVT. My blood work showed some irregularities and my lymph nodes were swollen. After more blood testing and a lymph node biopsy , I was diagnosed with CLL.
