For someone with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), focusing on a healthy diet can help manage symptoms and improve overall well-being. Here are some dietary recommendations based on the knowledge base:

Foods to Eat:
1. Colorful Fruits and Vegetables:
- High in fiber, which supports digestion and a healthy body weight.
- Feed "good bacteria" in the gut, essential for the immune system.
- Boost fiber, iron, and vitamin C intake.

2. Lean Proteins:
- Essential for maintaining muscle mass and immune function.
- Options include plant-based proteins (beans, legumes, nuts, tofu), seafood, poultry, and eggs.
- Avoid high-fat or processed red meats like pepperoni, bacon, or sausages.

3. Whole-Grain Carbohydrates:
- Promote heart health, improve blood sugar control, and provide fiber, vitamins E and B, and antioxidants.
- Good options: 100% whole-wheat bread, buckwheat, brown rice, oatmeal, quinoa.

4. Low-Fat Dairy Products and Nondairy Alternatives:
- Provide calcium and protein.
- Opt for lower-fat varieties like skim milk or nonfat yogurt to avoid heartburn.
- Nondairy alternatives like almond and soy milk are usually fortified with calcium.

Foods to Avoid:
- High-fat or processed red meats.
- Foods that may cause heartburn or digestive issues if you have trouble maintaining weight or digestion.

Additional Tips:
- Choose foods that help maintain energy levels and support overall health.
- Consider how different foods affect your symptoms and energy levels.

By incorporating these foods into your diet, you can help manage CLL symptoms and support your overall health.

Hi Mason. Different people have different thoughts in regards to a specific diet. But, overall things to avoid completely to start with would be all sugars, processed foods, fried foods, sodas, lots of dairy and lots of carbohydrates (some items turn into sugar in our systems). I've seen people on this site that lean towards a plant based diet, a Mediterranean diet, keto diet, etc etc. Those that are on chemo and other meds also have to eat differently. And there are also people that have food allergies, crohns, etc. so one must take those things into consideration as well. There are a lot of recipe books out there as well that you may want to look into(The cancer diet cookbook, The medicinal Chef, etc etc).
Also it's important to be active and not sedentary as that helps our lymphatic system, our mind and yes our bodies!:):)
