What Is The Latest Study On How To Treat CMML? Especially For Older Male Patients That Are 75 Plus
I have CMML and am 65. I have completed eleven cycles of chemotherapy. Currently treatments are on hold due to bleeding into the brain. My platelets are running very low. As I understand, there are three different options. Supportive care to manage the effects of this disease. Chemotherapy and SCT ( Stem Cell Transplant). Believe they would be looking at where you are at in disease progression and overall health to make any kind of recommendations. Not much help but from talking to my oncologist it seems CMML varies quite a bit in each case. I was fortunate he arranged for a second opinion from a facility that does SCT, they both felt chemotherapy was the best option at this time.
I am about to start a trial ASTX030-01, Phase 2 (I was not in Phase 1 which was to determine proper drug amounts). It is a study of Oral ASTX030 (Cedazuridine and Azacitidine given in combination) vs subcutaneous Azacidine. I am CMML-0 but have GPA Vasculitis and autoimmune neutropenia. This will be given to help my Vasculitis/neutropenia to reduce my infection risk, rather than for my CMML. Looks like Inqovi is a decitabine and cedazuridine tablet.
I currently receive a modest dose of Decitabene and an 200 mg of Venetaklex once a week. This was developed by Cleveland Clinic. My personal belief is that the drug, Inqovi is the best drug for CMML, if you can tolerate it. It is not an easy drug to take but I think it has the most promise.
IV Decitabine for 6 months then we switched to the pill form Inqovi.
